Prayer Requests

In Psalm 55:22, the Bible reminds us to direct our cares God for God will sustain us. In the Bible passage, the person comes to God in prayer and seeks to be in communion with God. Our practice of prayer is based on the belief that god is a Still-Listening God and a “Still-Speaking God.”

Prayer at the Gaylord United Church of Christ takes on different forms. Prayer is an active effort to communicate with God, to offer praise and gratitude, to make a request or intercession for another, or simply to express one’s thoughts and emotions. Prayer is a way to proceed through life with peace in our hearts. Prayer is a way by which we build our awareness of God within and bring ourselves closer to God.

In Christian practice, the words of prayer may be a spontaneous expression of one’s own words or read entirely from hymn or incantation. Personal prayer may be family devotions and personal quiet times and public prayer follows worship services. Probably the most common and universal prayer among Christians is the Lord’s Prayer.

Sometimes it is very hard to pray. Someone has said that what you can do then is just “show up” for God and then pray about not being able to pray.

What’s more, at the Gaylord United Church of Christ, we practice intercessory prayer, which is the act of one person praying for or on behalf of another person or situation. Submit a prayer request online or contact us and we will pray with you.
